Special Ops: Organization

Earring Hanger

Today's post offers a trendy way to organize your earrings so they don't get tangled and damaged. It only requires a few items, and won't take up space on your counter or dresser top.

Supplies:
11x14inch wooden picture frame
5 yards each of 2 contrasting colors of twine
46 Screw Eyes
Ruler
Scissors
Step 1:Mark the inside of the frame at 1 inch intervals on all sides.

Step 2:Insert Screw Eyes at each mark.

Step 3:Tie twine to the first horizontal screw eye and then wrap the twine thru each screw eye from side to side horizontally, tie off at the end.

Step 4:Use the alternate color of twine. Tie the twine to the first vertical screw eye, wrap the twine from end to end through each screw eye vertically, tie off. Be sure to weave each row of vertical twine through the horizontal rows to make a grid.

This also make a fun way to display children's art work (just use clothes pins to attach) or hold recipe cards while cooking.

As always my blog, Scrappin Chaos, has details on products used.

Scrap On!

June's Featured S.W.A.T Girl!

Please join us in congratulating

June's S.W.A.T. Girl!!

Wendy
I am ecstatic to be June's S.W.A.T. Girl!  I think the title sounds so cool!  I officially began blogging of February 2013 and I am finding it to be very inspiring.  I enjoy seeing all the creative work from fellow scrapbookers from around the world.  I have been scrapbooking in one form or another for 30 years.  (*gasp* - I can’t possibly be that old)  I must add though, I didn’t really dive into the creative side of scrapbooking until recently.  My creative style tends to be more clean and simple – though I honestly admire the layered and mixed media pages.  Before I became a stay-at-home mom, I had a marketing career with a variety positions including marketing director of a consulting firm, managing editor of an international research journal, and AVP of internal communications at a national bank.  I also served on the editorial staff of both my high school and college yearbooks.  At home, I am have been happily married to my husband for 20 years and we have two lovely and quite entertaining children.  We reside in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with our little dog, Max.  You can find my work at W2.

We asked Wendy to share a few of her
favorite projects and here they are:

June Basic Training

Welcome to June's Basic Training!

Fun with Stitching!

As a scrapbooker, have you ever noticed the cycle of "fads"?  Something will be really big, then fade out, then get really big again?  Funny how that happens.  Sometimes, we find ourselves so overwhelmed with the new "fads" that we forget to use some of our all time faves.  Today I am bringing back hand stitching!  I absolutely love stitching on a layout!  Either with the sewing machine or by hand.  I have never really stopped using stitching, but definitely don't do it as often as I used to.  It seems like we all get so busy and in a hurry to crank out a layout, we forget to stitch!  Today, I am going to give you some fun, easy ideas to "bring back" hand stitching to your layouts!

Supplies needed:

Piercing mat (optional)
Paper piercer
floss (color of your choice)
needle

OK, Let's get started!!

Below you will see some samples of templates and tools available.  These are always super easy to pull out and use.

If you don't have any templates, or you don't have the "right" one for your project, here are a couple of ideas to make your own.

Freehand - You can draw, doodle or write and pierce holes in your own design.

Use a stamp of your choice.  When I am doing this, I usually use a watermark stamp pad, or try to coordinate ink color with the floss color you are going to use.  Simply stamp on your project and pierce right over stamped image.

Use Chipboard of your choice -  Place the chipboard where you want it on your project, and carefully punch holes around it, while holding it in place.  In addition to shapes, you can also use letters.

As you can see, you don't have to have a template to achieve the exact shape or design that you want.

That's  it!  Easy peasy, right?  Hand stitching on a layout, project or card is so pretty and can add such a cute touch.  The possibilities are endless!  I really hope that you will play along with this Basic Training.  Have fun with this and get creative!  We would love to see your newly created layout, card or project highlighting your stitching, so don't forget to upload your project!

Here is my newly created project with hand stitching:

 Have fun, and be creative!!

Please share your projects with us!

Just Link them up to your right.
