Hump Day Beauty!

HAPPY HUMP DAY! Michele here on this fine Wednesday... This week I would like to share with you a project that was featured over at 3 Girl Jam Saturday!!   Make sure you check out all the pretty ribbons over at their store!!

I created this mixed canvas using 2 ribbons from the 3 Girl Jam store, pink crinkle ribbon and jute ribbon.

Gesso and gold crackle modeling paste are smeared over an UmWow Studio chipboard piece, hexagon background.  My cicada, also from UmWow, is painted with distress paint, gesso and crackle modeling paste and then pinned to the canvas.  I used some Studio Calico wood alphas and a banner which is also pinned to the canvas.

I'm super excited to share a wooden frame that I found. I used gesso to cover the entire frame and gave it a few coats.

Then using stencils and some coloured painted added to yet more gesso. I used a mask to add the fun accents to the board. Because the gesso is so much thicker than the paint the frame has great textured look.

After adding the gesso I decided to let it dry overnight. you shouldn't rush this step.

Here is my finished wooden wall frame... with a great little photo added, lots of fun paper elements, some metal accents and even some gem stones. I also added lots of glossy accents over some of the paper rings and scallop edge to help it adhere it to the frame. 

Up close you can see the glossy look, a 3D flower with a brad and the metal flower and some liquid pearls too.

There is nothing Grandma loves better than showing off her munchkins. This chalkboard album case lets her do that in style.

The instructions for the chalkboard mini-album can be seen on the Just Imagine Crafts blog.

Supplies:

One Starbucks Via Ready Brew 3-pack envelope

One sheet of black cardstock

24 inches of 3/4" ribbon

3.5" of mini pom-pom trim

9" of twine

2 large brads



Directions:

Step 1: Open the Via envelope at all the seams.

Step 2: Lay flat on black cardstock and trace.

Step 3: Extend top flap by 1/2".

Step 4: Trace a second set of lines 3/8" out from central rectangle.

Step 5: Cut out case.

Step 6: Score edges of central rectangle as well as second set 3/8" out.



Step 7: Line wide ribbon up with the edges of the outside of the case and adhere.

Step 8: Adhere pom-pom trim to edge of short flap.

Step 9: Set one brad 1/2" from center edge of short flap; set second brad 1.5" from center edge of long flap.

Step 10: Fold sides in to make edges of case and adhere long flap to them.

Step 11: Wrap twine around brads to close case.

Hump Day! Recipe Holder

Happy Hump Day! Yikes, with Christmas so close I'm not sure if I'm excited that the week is halfway over or if I'm freaking out because there is so much to do and time is slipping by way too fast. Today I'm going to share a super easy Christmas gift that I made for a sweet friend.What I love about this gift is that it's perfect for Christmas, but it is also usable all throughout the year. Check it out... a cute little recipe holder for the kitchen.

I picked up a wooden block and tin set from a Pick Your Plum deal way back in the spring intending to find some way to use them for Mother's Day. That time obviously came and went and when I found the box of goodies on the back of my craft shelf I decided they would make perfect recipe holders. They are just the right size to sit on the counter and if you are like me, you find yourself looking for your recipe the whole time you are cooking because you are constantly moving it out of the way as you make a mess in the kitchen. Anyone or is that just me?! Well, problem solved. With the recipe clipped on this baby, my sweet friend will never lose a recipe again.

Totally thought this little bird was so adorable. This is an older Christmas line from Imaginisce that I had in my scrappy stash. So cute. After painting the wooden block I glued some scrap paper and  added the Love sign and the bird to give the block a cuter look.

At this point you may be wondering how this cute little holder fits in the kitchen the whole year round. Let me show you!

Here's a look at the back side. Just flip it around and you have a cute little holder for the rest of the year, yummy little cupcake and all. Again I dug into my stash and brought out another very old line. This time it's Bo Bunny. Can you tell that I'm a paper hoarder? I have had this paper for so long and have been waiting for the perfect food page, it just never came until now. See, there is good that comes from hoarding! (Try convincing my sweet hubby of that.)

I'm just stopping in to share a pretty little pumpkin that I created using some Bazzill Basics Cardstock and Mod Podge!

I didn't take pictures while I was making this and believe 

me you wouldn't have wanted to see them.... Really I almost tossed it twice!

But this is the pumpkin I started with:

And after a lot of Mod Podge and bit of ink, Flowers & Bling. This is what I ended up with.

But really its was a simple idea. The plan was to cover the pumpkin with paper easy right?? Yep just like wrapping a ball for Christmas!

Its time!!

Hi everyone! It's Venetia here and it's another Wednesday! I am still working on plaques to place about my room at work.

This week I wanted to share this one which is a reminder I need. "Now it's time!"

When I think of how many thing I push aside, I realize the time to do most of them is at that moment. If I spent more time doing and less time thinking about doing, I am sure I'd me amazed at the results.

So I challenge you for today- Wednesday to be inspired and make the time now for something you want.
